Thanks for this opportunity. I am an 'older' student having started guitar lessons in my 60s. I've been taking lessons from Clint at Kogarah for more than a year and I am happy with my progress. As I had no previous experience playing a musical instrument I commenced lessons with doubts about my ability to learn. My daughter started guitar lessons with a local guy who at the time we thought was good. It wasn’t until we were unable to continue with his lessons and started with Chris (Quinane at Maroubra) we noticed a huge difference. G4 Guitar is very structured and well organised. Chris has been teaching our daughter for the past 3 ½ months and we couldn’t be happier. Chris is a wonderful teacher and has excellent communication skills with children. He is also amazing at being able to maintain the children’s concentration (this can be a difficult task when their lessons are on a Friday afternoon).

My daughter and I are both extremely happy with having Chris as her teacher and look forward to many more years of Chris teaching her guitar.

I began lessons with Brendon, September 2010. He promised I would be able to play a song in twelve months, we achieved “Waltzing Matilda” in eight months!

The G4 Guitar Method taught by Brendan is structured such that you learn and become competent in the basics before progressing to more complicated aspects of guitar playing.

Practice is emphasised and even though I am of “a mature age”, [read OLD], Brendon has unfailingly encouraged and where earned, complimented my playing. When I wanted to “break” all of my fat fingers so they could get to the right frets for impossible chord positions Brendon never lost hope for me.

I look forward to my lesson each week and have once come second in total minutes practiced per month!

I can recommend Brendon as a Guitar teacher.

G4 Guitar lessons have taken a young persons dream to a passionate pastime. The under 10 year set has access to all sorts of distractions so I was very pleased that the G4 process allowed me to assist a 7 year old to regularly learn something I could participate in and understand myself. We have sat side by side through 4 years of lessons and daily practice. As you can appreciate it takes time to develop the foundations. Now we have a student entering high school with advancing skills in music, a passion to learn and ability to perform well above her age group. Thank you G4. Again.

Things to consider;

Patience, practice and persistence. Don’t give up there are flat spots, find fun things to do from time to time. Mix in the program with fun songs experiment enjoy but don’t put the guitar down.

From a parents perspective its critical to participate, Guitars are cheap if you can get two do the practice with your kids. Not to take it up but to appreciate what they have to do and why they feel frustrated at times.

For students, don’t think that any one person is going to be the key or teacher to make it happen. Its up to you teachers are just coaches and can only guide your learning.

Bad things;

We had lots of teacher changes, sometimes poorly thought out groups which lost us the second starter. We seemed to have moved through the G4 program without a lot of understanding of what to do next. We have taken on the AMEB levels for CPM however none of the G4 teachers were familiar with teaching this program. We sometimes spent weeks learning the wrong material but when you look back the most important thing we have learnt is to be independent, involved, enquiring and patient.

Although I've only been having guitar lessons from Michael for 2 months, my goal is to be a G4GM teacher.

Michael Essery is a fantastic guitar teacher, he is very passionate about music and the guitar. He is very dedicated to teaching the guitar properly and making sure my daughter Dayna has learnt the basic skills and techniques that will set her up to know how to play the guitar
well. Dayna has been making great progress under Michael's instruction, and I like the way the G4 guitar method encourages the students to log their practice minutes which sets them up in good practice for other areas of their life that require discipline. Michael has an excellent
teaching style that encourages and inspires Dayna and myself because he is so enthusiastic. Dayna is a singer and learning the guitar is important to her so that she can accompany herself ( Dayna's song list is very long!!!) and Michael takes into consideration Dayna's goal
whilst making sure she goes through the steps to get to where she wants to be. We think Michael must be your best guitar teacher.

Please find as follows our receipt for our next lot of lessons as group
at our present schedule with Darryl with whom I am enjoying lessons a lot
more under his tuition as I find he is able to explain things and get the
point across a lot clearer and better than before. Many thanks for your help
in re-scheduling lessons for catch up these few times of past as working
for myself I find my work unfortunately dictates the hours I must work.
Looking forward to my ongoing tuition with G4 with many thanks.

Diego (G4 Teacher in Strathfield) is like an encyclopaedia on music and is really passionate about
it, which is quite different to the other guys that have tutored me
who were not into it quite as much (not necessarily a bad thing- each
had their unique style of teaching).

Hoping that that passion rubs off onto me.

For the next 10 session block I'll most likely make them hour long
classes since I won't have an exam to study for after five weeks.

Dear Emma,

Isabella had her first lesson on Saturday, and I was very happy & impressed with Chris' (Quinane) approach. Isabella is thrilled to finally have some structure to her guitar-learning. On Saturday I also asked Chris about whether 4 year olds can learn guitar & Chris said he thought 4 yrs was a good time to start, so I would like to see if you have guitar lessons avail for my son, Hugo too. We can attend either Saturdays or Mon (from 4pm) or Tuesdays (from 4pm).

Could you advise if it is possible to enrol Hugo also?

I'd just like to put in a good word for Emma. I've not actually met her but have been impressed time and again by how responsive and helpful she has been, even when we have been difficult customers swapping and changing days and make-ups. She is a great representative for G4!

I hope that you've had a great week.

I just wanted to pass on my thanks to David (Wooltorton), Joseph's new guitar teacher on Wed at 4pm. He matched him up with another boy, who I think will work really well with Joseph. He is also a very methodical and inspiring teacher. Joseph was not interested in doing guitar anymore, but David seems to have renewed his enthusiasm! Can you please pass on my thanks to David.

Guitar lessons with Danny John have been great, he is very inspirational. Danny teaches you all the important things like scale, technique and modes and how they all fit together, all in a fun and practical way. This in turn gives you the knowledge and confidence to create your own music.

We also learn songs relative to our music level and ability that new scales and techniques can be practised with, so they don'e become boring.

Danny also teaches my nine year old Son, who after only three lessons, shocks people with what he is able to play.

Another good thing is that Danny is very flexible and understands that, as a shift worker, lesson times sometimes need to be moved around".

I learnt an enormous amount from Cohen and found him to be an excellent teacher always finding a balance between practical and theory. My limited skills definitely improved under his tutoring!

The lessons are going really well. David (Warokka) is an excellent teacher.

His sessions strike a good balance between repetition to

consolidate and new material for challenge and growth.

I am really enjoying myself and delighted with the progress we are making.

Music used to be my 'final frontier' - the one thing I never thought I would

be able to do and now I feel like a fledgeling musician ;-)

"One thing I have certainly noticed is that the 7 step process seems to be filled with repetitive steps, the practice takes time and is usually not appreciated by the student. Now to my surprise Georgia can pick up sheet music or learn a new set of song chords by applying all the things she has learned from the G4 Guitar School. It is encouraging to see her apply this set of skills. New songs seem to be fun for her to master. Go G4.

PS now have young Miss Bella on the program she has been watching and joining in a little bit for a year or two and now wants to be just like her big sister."

My daughter Nicole had lessons in (G4GUITAR) Lane Cove last year and enjoyed it very much.
She's at boarding school now and we thought we'd continue lessons at her new school but it's not working out so well. I was wondering if you have classes for her level on a Saturday in Lane Cove.
